The bread project is now a continuing success! I have created bread that looks, smells, and tastes like bread, and I believe that I will be able to duplicate my results. The next step will be figuring out how to make a chewier crust. It's good for a fifth try, but for french bread, it's still a long way off. Someday, I hope to get as good at this as I am with pancakes and mashed potatoes. By the time I hit retirement age, I should be good and ready to cook for other people. (I also managed to cook fish correctly today, though I don't think I can duplicate those results yet. Fish and I have a rocky relationship sometimes.)

My sister had a really nice recipe for making dinner rolls. They always turned out perfect for her. I can ask her for it, if you like. Or you can have fun with cooking adventures on your own, if you are enjoying the challenge.

The chewy crust trick is easy. You need a spray bottle full of water, and you open the oven every couple of minutes and spritz the daylights out of the bread while it's baking. I've gone so far as to dump a whole bunch of water right into the baking pan. The steam creates the chewy. A also douse the rolls before they even go in.

I think my next bread-related experiment is going to be bagels. It looks like the dough is barely different... there's just a boiling step. And that looks like fun.

I have never made bagels. Tell me how it works out! I totally want to try now, too. I keep meaning to and never do.
OH! Also. Watch this. Right now.
