So, I was exceedingly bored tonight, and remembered that maybe I should catch up on the last, like, year of the FMA manga. I'm going to skip the gloating/smirking/grinning about a few things that are in uncanny parallel to ideas I've been toying with/have toyed with (in one case almost a year ago), partially because my ego isn't quite up for that posturing, and also because chapter 79 just gave me something to dance about.

Vengeance! Ah, vengeance has been served! Envy is dead! Bahahahahahaha Envy is dead! (There, that's out of my system now and I can stop being marginally immature. I didn't even realize I was still holding that grudge until I got to the end of the chapter and was grinning.)

Also, Hohenheim is named entirely for the alchemist, and that's awesome. I want a homunculus in a jar. They seem so innocent. Well, and conniving. And young!Hohenheim is kind of adorable. Especially carting the flask around and sitting in windows with it. Awwww.

Also, Hawkeye is awesome. I sort of knew how the Pride thing went down, but in context... wow. She wins. Also, Winry wins. And, as loathe as I may have been to admit it at first, Olivia also wins for her brief display of manipulation on par with Roy's.

And is it me, or does everyone speak in lies now? Everything is bait and switch. Which is awesome, especially when it's on a gigantic level, but it seems like it's become the official language of FMA. Everyone is playing their own little game and no one is privy to every plan everyone else has. It's such an awesome mess. Oh, I wish I could write like this sometimes. I can't imagine the story bibles Arakawa must have for this.

That said... I'm glad I waited to read this all in one go, because I can see where it would've driven me utterly mad. There isn't nearly enough Mustang-tachi in between things. And Fuery... ahhh. Am I correct in thinking there are only going to be like, 5 or 6 more chapters?

You think you want a homunculus in a jar, but just wait until you come home and it's made a portal of truth in the dining room and you have company coming in half an hour. Young Hohenheim is pretty adorable, though, it's true.

Also, complete agreement with everything in that second-to-last paragraph. The complexity of the story at the moment breaks my brain whenever I think about it. That's why I think it's going to be a little longer than five or six more chapters, though--there are five homunculi still alive, Ed and Al are still nowhere near reaching their goal, and pretty much every single character still has their own story to wrap up. Unless, of course, rocks fall and everyone dies. :(

If my company can't handle a portal of truth they don't get to come over for dinner anyway. I think I'm going to have to make a jar-homunculus and keep it on my desk, and see if anyone ever gets it.

Olivia vs Roy would be awesome. Also, I love how Roy keeps getting shot down. Oh, it amuses me. His only interaction lately has been with old women, transvestites, and women who enjoy verbally removing his manhood. (-;

Yeah, I'll be surprised if it wraps up in only a few more chapters. How have you survived month to month? And now I know, since it's so close to the end... oh, what have I done? Because there will be awful cliffhangers and I'll have to wait along with everyone else! I should have known better!

The latest chapter, like much of FMA, is made of win and awesome. Utterly. :D And you are lucky to have read it in one go. There have been quite a few chapters (especially recently) that have left me frothing and ranting upon finishing them.
