Dar! Where are you! Omg! I have no one to flail at because I tipped my hand on all my predictions during the commercial breaks when I was watching with everyone tonight but OMG. Omg omg omg. I have not been so... on the edge of my seat for a show in ages. Wow. ♥ All of us were on the edge of the couch (random quips about Bob Dylan aside.
Omg. I wish I'd written down my list of my five bets on the final five. I called Anders and Tyrol, and Tigh had been on and off my list. I figure that's a fair percentage. I wish I could figure out what's going on with Roslin, though. I still swear up and down that she's a Cylon, but fine if she's not, since I kind of like the "The second to each of these huge figures is a Cylon." Eeeee! I knew it! I knew Tyrol was a Cylon! I don't know why this makes me happy! It probably has a lot to do with me also wishing Hughes in the FMA manga is actually Pride. But I've been so bad at keeping up with the manga lately that for all I know, we actually know who Pride is now. Tyrol's a Cylon! Tyrol's a Cylon! (Maybe I'm just proud of myself because he's the one I've sworn up and down was a Cylon from the start.) Hehehehe.
So knew they wouldn't declare Baltar guilty. And fine, I admired Lee for like, four or five long fractions of a second. (I can't believe they let him keep talking. But, in suspending my disbelief, wow... what a long-winded bit of character justification. I ♥ you, BSG. I really do.
Also, there was some crazy-wonky camera work in this episode. Wow. But love! I was expecting to be angry and scared and horrified about having to wait until 2008, but for being a gigantic cliffhanger, what a satisfying episode. It really puts them in place for 1) Giant Space Battles (With Explosions) and 2) A Good Clean Start For New Directions and 3) Explosions. Wow. I was so worried about you, BSG. So worried. But you win. It's going to be super-hard to break my faith in you now. Wow.
I'm also über-happy that I had to reappraise all of my theories. Like my theory on Starbuck. Wow. Yay! (As soon as Lee was out in the Viper it was "I changed my mind. He's going to find Starbuck." And yay visual parallels to Maelstrom. And I love that we managed to sit there and debate whether she was just in his head, and it involved whether being able to see her on the instruments was a clue. We're pretty sure Starbuck couldn't see Leoben on hers, but Invisible!Starbuck would be cool.)
What is going on with Roslin? For seriously I must know. Is it the Cylon baby blood that lets her intercept whatever-the-heck from Six and get in on Athena and Hera's dreams? What is going on here? So many questions! So many, many questions!
P.S. And if those four aren't Cylons, I will be even more amused. (Slightly betrayed if Tyrol isn't one, sure), but oh, the possibilities for mind-screwery in this episode. Wee!
2008! Holy frack that's a long way away. It's only the end of March! Battlestar, this is not fair! (Watch me as I go through the stages of grief here for the next week or so. But hey, at least Doctor Who starts again next week.)
In conclusion, though... ♥, BSG. ♥ This is the first time I've fangirled over an episode since... since... wow. I didn't know I still had it in me.
In less fangirly news, I managed to talk people into cooking out at the point today. Unfortunately, right around 6:30, the wind picked up and it got really grey. Though, in the end we managed to turn it into fun, fun burning with hotdogs and slightly charred buns and root bear floats made with mango ice cream (not as disgusting as it'd seem). And, to cap it all off, after dark we tossed the lit coals into the lake while shouting "For Spartaaaa!" All in all, a wonderful way to start the quarter. Unfortunately, I've only got pictures of the coals, and the awesome sunset we were treated to. Ah, how I love spring. (And I am now quite resolved on the idea that I will make kebabs sometime this quarter as well, because grilling at the point is fun.)
