Reasons new CDs (the physical type) are awesome:

- I can listen to them as much as I want without throwing off my play-a-song-once-a-month playlists in iTunes.
- I can check lyrics without billions of popup ads.
- In the event of a zombie attack, I could probably use them as weapons (though LPs are better).
- Album art.
- Sometimes, they come with stickers!

Reasons I need a new laptop:

- Mine's old.
- It hasn't been the same since the Texas Fiends killed the motherboard.
- I can't play games on this one.
- I have new stickers I'd like to stick to something, and this one's full.

Reasons the past two days have been awesome:

- I haven't had to go to class.
- I've had actual computer work, which means money!
- SNOW! Blowing, blizzarding, real actual snow.
- Midnight walk to the lake, which is a giant barren white-Martian landscape of ice for hundreds of yards out.
- Getting new CDs.

P.S. The new Shins album is great. I just got the new Apples in Stereo album today, but methinks I'm going to have to let that one grow on me a bit first. It's oh-so-very far from Her Wallpaper Reverie, which will probably remain my favourite of theirs. ... I wish my mom would get around to sending me the CDs I left at home. I miss having Ganging up on the Sun and The Crane Wife around to cheer me up.

And now, I go to write. Because omg I am behind again. Even if I don't technically have to do anything this week, I do, technically, have to do things this week. But at least I've managed to actually write a semi-respectable resumé for myself. That's something.

Sometimes I think the zombies are just biding their time until all existing music players are smaller than the current iPod Shuffle, thus making them useless as weapons.

That would be an evil, devious plan... And having eaten all those brains, I'm sure they're able to put some of them to use... I wouldn't put that past them. I'm going to have to dig out my old CD player, just in case. (This probably explains the noticeable lack of zombies on the streets in the 80s when people were carrying around entire boomboxes.)

Now that you mention it, there were hardly any zombies back in the 80s. I wonder what people did to fend them off before the phonograph was invented.

Hmm. That's tricky. I'm guessing they mostly didn't (a few of the major plagues were probably secretly zombification), but civilization was spread out enough to bounce back. If you go back far enough, I'm sure all the inbreeding was to make sure the anti-zombie genes stayed in the family. We really have come a long way... but by this definition, the height of civilization was reached in the 80s... Hmmmm.
