I feel like things are so much more in order now that my computer's back. But this feeling flies in flagrant discord with the fact that I didn't even know when the quarter ends. Nor did I realize I have a paper due on Monday. (I'm hoping against all hope that my next photo project isn't due next week, because I still haven't been inspired to take pictures of people. I guess I should at least get a few rolls shot this weekend).

Tonight, however, is for reveling in officially (for now) having my computer restored to its former glory. iTunes is in order, which was a certifiable ordeal. But I am absolutely ecstatic that I managed consolidating the entire library while only losing two songs. (Two songs that it makes me sad to lose, though. Electric Light Orchestra's Twilight and the Decemberists' Tain EP.) But two out of 4742? Not bad. And I finally got rid of all the freaking duplicate songs for good. I had four copies of some songs... it's really rather embarrassing what a slipshod job I did of backing things up. At some point, I'm gonna have to go through my document files, too, and resort those.

Oh, and right now I'm finally listening to the Decemberists' new album. I bought it when [livejournal.com profile] sketchyheart was here, so that's, oh, a good two weeks ago now... and though I bought it knowing full well I couldn't listen to it until my computer was healthy again, it has been eating at me, seeing it just sitting on my shelf unlistened-to. You can tell it's their move to a major label. It's just got that feel to it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but is definitely there (I've constantly got a sort of nostalgia for the old sound of bands, but if they didn't change, I'd get bored with them--which I finally convinced myself of today after going through all my old music). I shan't say more than that until I've listened to it all the way through, though, and after that at least once more. After all, I remember what I said about Guster's Ganging Up on the Sun after the first listen-through, and I've pretty much had to retract all of it.

I would like to say, though, after my adventures in searching for music this morning, that Rilo Kiley amuses me, and I don't know why I never heard more of their stuff before.

Oh, and as a really random note: this is the first day since before O-Week that I've been up at nine on less than 8 hours of sleep. This is a victory, because it means I have enough motivation to get myself out of bed more than ten minutes before I have to leave for class. Hooray!

P.S. I'd like to mention that my response paper for class this morning centered entirely on a personified snail in Virginia Woolf's "Kew Gardens", and though I think a lot of what I said was wrong upon a second reading of the story, it's still the most fun I've had writing a response paper for that class because I basically sat there going "aww, this snail is so cute and omg, these people are one-dimensional, boring, and make no sense. hee, snail!" as I read the story, then tried to justify feeling that. Honest, guys, the snail is the most compelling character in that story (and I do still think that).

P.P.S. I have finally permanently solved my iTunes/iPod woes! Suddenly, I can reformat my computer to my heart's content (and to the tech's content) and not have to spend countless hours reconstructing my library! This is such a major victory. I should do a dance. I think I will. (Thank you, setting I finally found for changing the iTunes directory.)
