In an effort to not complain, I will instead pose a random question.
So, after watching Serenity a second time I caught a few things that I didn't catch the first way through. However, it still seems to me that it's massively unfair that Book died without any more character development. In order to fix this, I'm working on a sort of theory. Perhaps there are hints... maybe it's outlined for us somewhere. So, the most obvious thing to me would be that he's a former assassin (operative? something) along the lines of Jubal Early. I mean, there are lots of things that would be explained that way, and the whole "believe" thing could very easily be a giant hint at that. But this leaves the giant issue of how on Earth he quit. Then again, obviously Jubal didn't know anything about what he was out to do, so it's quite possible that Shepard would be the same way. They could probably just let them go when they got too old, or disenchanted. Though... hmm. It might be worth thinking about. Any ideas? It almost seems too obvious this way, and maybe I'm just point out something the rest of the fandom has known forever. (Since I know pretty much nothing of the Firefly fandom. They want a second season. That's enough to keep me away from them.Okay, I just don't know where to find them.)
So... I'm surviving. Notice how I haven't made any voice posts yet? I'm holding up. The walls aren't closing in yet. And I got homework done today. (We'll forget that I almost got dragged out to go clubbing, and definitely forgot it was Saturday).

Actually, this is the only reason I'd support any kind of second season. I think the movie gave things a good end... but more backstory would be cool.
I always want more backstory.
