"There are some minors drinking over there... but that's okay. Throw them out on the streets, they'll be the city's problem."

Yay, con. So, I've got a whole long list of things I need to write about sitting in my bookbag... plus I've got pictures that I need to upload. Including both the random people I missed yesterday. And a tiny child Sauske. And Katamari peoples, and other random yay. Oh! The Gate Baby was here. Actually, I don't know if it was ACen's Gate Baby, but it was a Gate Baby, so that made me happy. We had to give her a hug. I got a lot more hugs today, at total random, than I ever did at ACen. Though the one guy in the lobby Saturday night of this year's ACen, when I was looking for pizza places, who nearly threw me across the room spinning still wins at the hug contest that I wasn't having until this very moment... because that made me really happy. And he was nice. (Yay!)

Also... I feel a great need to point this out. There was this guy. Oldish, grey-haired... in shorts and a grey tightish-fitting T-shirt. We had to ask him if he was cosplaying Holland (from Eureka7). He was not. Okay, we said to ourselves. That is a wee bit uncanny. And to myself, I said "But that shirt is not quite the right shade of grey." Then, later on we saw him again, a bit after midnight. He had on long pants and a different shirt... BUT IT WAS A HOLLAND OUTFIT DOWN TO THE SHOES. So, obviously our conclusion is that he's somehow stolen Holland's wardrobe... or was lying to us about cosplaying him. Because wow. It was uncanny.

There was an awesome L today, who stabbed one of our candies with a fork and then proceeded to unwrap it in her mouth because of... weirdness. This amused me to no end. Along with the random people, whose pictures I will have up eventually, promise! Because I don't have that many, and I can probably yoink them off of my camera... now. And upload them while I'm here, because that's a good idea. OH! And there was one amazingly super-evil cruel cosplayer, who I will explain properly when I post all the pictures. I yelled at her. Because she was cruel. Cruel!

So, this weekend has really been an interesting social experience for me. I am so not used to being... behind a table for a con. But I actually rather like it. It's kind of a shame I suffer from a lack of easily marketable skills. (Alas... I'm suffering from yet another bout of art-jealousy this weekend.) For a bit, I was all like "ooh, I should find an excuse to be a minion for ACen, because last time just wandering everything all the time was... tiresome. And their artist alley's in an awesome spot for wanderers." But then I was told they're thinking of moving ACen to June. To which I reply "omgwtfisthiscrap?! You may not move ACen until after next year because if you do I won't be able to go, and this past ACen will have been my last without any kind of proper warning, and I'll be missing the tenth one, which is a crime in and of itself, but mostly I don't want this past ACen to have been my last, because it's not the best note in the world to leave on. Kay. Plus I'm working on talking people into coming so I can meet actual internets people this time, which is something I have yet to manage at a con. Zomgah." I really wish the hotel had let people hang out until the wee hours of the morning. I spent the evening after Artist's Alley closed lugging the button maker around. Which made me feel cool, but it would've made me feel cooler if I'd found a proper way to attract people's attention to it so I could sell buttons.

Unfortunately, at this point I seem to have lost my massive sheet of notes reminding me what I need to write about. I know some random anbu thought that I was a pirate while I was dressed as Winry, which... way confused me. Not nearly as much as the soccer-mom that was walking down the street when I was coming back from my food run, though, who spotted me and stared resolutely to her left until she passed me. If I'd stepped in front of her, she would've walked right into me. That was how badly she didn't want to be seen staring at me. (Come on, people! The two old ladies I ran into on the way to Walgreens actually smiled back and laughed a bit before giving me a half-approving nod. Which I think amused me more. For once the Winry costume was appropriate for the weather. Also, I love confusing random innocent people. Apparently the employees of the nearly-invisible food court were the most confused, because the place was overrun by cosplayers all day.)

Edit1: OH! We also caught the Speed Grapher dub. I must say... I am quite happy with Chris Sabbat's job on Saiga. Honestly, I think that, if the cast settles in, Speed Grapher is one of those dubs that could potentially be better than the Japanese. Just because holy wow, parts of the Japanese version were bad... mostly the parts that invovled speaking any English (and there were a lot of them). I've got my complaints though, of course. The opening theme wasn't Girls on Film, and that made me a little sad, especially because the instrumental thing they used was pretty boring. I might be able to get used to Suitengu if I ever watch more of it, but wow... I couldn't stand him in the first episode. Once he settled down in the second, though, he became tolerable. Nose-guy, though (whose name I can never remember) leaves me very unimpressed (even though Greg Ayres popped into the room in the middle of the second ep to babble at us a bit). Kagura wasn't bad. And most of the incidental characters weren't too bad. [livejournal.com profile] sketchyheart and I had to make faces at each other a few times, but on the whole... Okay, actually I'm gonna go back to Chris Sabbat. Because his Saiga's got this whole bored noir detective sort of thing going on, which I love. Even though I didn't really feel it there in the Japanese, it just fits so nicely. It actually added a better atmosphere to the first episode, and on the whole... I don't think much was changed in the translation. I can remember pondering over a lot of lines that still exist in this dub when I was QCing. Not that that's usually a good sign, but hey, it's not a bad one.

Mostly, though, I think Christopher Sabbat deserves a big hug for Saiga. If I ever see him, I think I will. (Still reconciling this with Armstrong, yes, but... hehehe.)
