So... I don't know how [livejournal.com profile] sketchyheart managed not to watch the movie until I made it over to her house at 8:30 tonight, but I'm forever grateful that I didn't have to go through that in the dark alone. Whoa. There were some great parts, and parts that made me squee and fangirl, and many, many parts that just made us both go "wtf." (Yes, "WTF" was spoken aloud. In letter form. Mostly by me). By the second part I think most of us were reduced to incoherence. In fact, I think after the one scene in the car with the monocle we were pretty much done for. (Best scene ever!) I'll pass a real judgement on the whole thing when there's an actual sub that I have edited because oh I want to like whoa now... hopefully no one else will feel like doing an entire movie and I can just jump in and go "OMG ME!!" I don't imagine anyone but Yey will do the sub yet though, considering the quality of the raw. I can wait now, though. There are mountains of spoilers and review posts I can go back to now. Yaaaay!

And I can't talk more about this without spoiling things, so here goes. )

So... there you have it. My disjointed thoughts on the movie. Whoa.

It was so horribly slow today at the theatre that I got sent home at two. Two hours of work! And I waited on... three people. I managed one combo, at least, so my percentage won't be all doomy. But still... wow. Hollywood, why won't you make good movies? The total lack of them lately's only encouraging me! At least I was there for a short enough time that I didn't forget to pick up my paycheck on the way out. However, I have this sneaking suspicion that, near the first register, there's a square of receipt tape in my usual tiny handwriting that starts with the setence "I suspect that the homunculus may be gathering in the north" and then, without any sort of transition, turns into more of my thoughts on the FMA movie. I... hope no one reads it. I'm thankful my handwriting's tiny and mostly illegible. And, well, the people at the theatre think I'm pretty weird anyway. Ahh... I think the thing mentioned Nazis, too. And how weird it was to use real historical figures like that. But most of it read like an actual movie review. A weird one, but at least a movie review. (Better that note than the ones yesterday, or the ones from last winter that were all plot points for fic. Or the one that was written entirely in French, because it was actually about a bit of Roy and Hughes' relationship that I was trying to puzzle out and I didn't want to have to explain that one to anyone).

So, really, aside from waking up at 6 because my sister had turned the light on, that was my day. Oh, and I have an essay bunny. Wtf is that?
