What a day. I am so tired that I'm wide awake, which I hope won't prevent me from falling asleep tonight at 11:30 or whenever it is that I need to go to sleep so I can get up early enough to make it to lifeguarding. Let's see how much I can summarize before the study break at 10...
One... the Train Ride:
Starting with the positive, I did have a seat to myself. However... after about one o'clock the temperature on the train dropped to about thirty or so, and I was freezing an no amount of extra covering would help. And I wasn't sick either, because the other people on the train were also freezing. It was horrible, and I could only sleep in little fits here and there.
Two... the Bus Ride:
After the train though, everything was all peachy-lovely. We got out of the train station, the 28 was waiting right out front... the bus was pretty warm, but it didn't bother me too much until I'd been on it for about ten minutes. This was part two of Official Extreme Temperature Changes Day. I got back to the Shoreland at about 7:50/8:00ish, and the room was horrible. Oh my goodness it was so amazingly horribly hot. The radiator was on, and since we can't turn it off, I had to pry all the windows open (because, of course, those are broken, too). So I sweltered in the room for awhile and tried to take a nap, which didn't really work out all that well because I kept dreaming that KOS-MOS was trying to break into my room. I... there isn't much chance of a logical explanation to that one. I blame all the heat.
Three... the Day:
It actually got up to 75 or so here today. Wonderfully warm. Around noon I decided to go outside for a walk, so I went out to the point and sat down on the rocks, took off my sandles and stuck my feet in the water. Despite the weather, Lake Michigan is still cold, surprise surprise. Hehehe. It was quite nice, though. My roomie got back, we fed the snake, people started coming in and out of our room again, people played Go several times... it rained. A lot. At six we went to the dining hall and ate. I miss food from home already. Then we rode the bus over to the Co-op and went shopping. And we walked back in the rain (fun!... even though it was cold). When we got back, the snake freaked us thoroughly out. He was sticking straight up in the air and would not move. We thought he was dead. Creepy, creepy snake. He hasn't shed the skin over his eyes properly since he got here, so he's basically blind now and my roomie's often afraid to feed him. Poor snake. And since then there's been an interesting debate about the real definition of a Cyborg and more Go and all sorts of talking. This place is... I still don't know. I wish I had a normal school to compare it to, so I could say something like "Yeah, it's like all the Ivy League pretention interspersed with lots of amusing eccentricity." But I can't prove that it's true... and sometimes there's too much pretention and not enough eccentricity. Neep.
Ah, about time for the study break. It's rootbeer floats again. I wish we could have something with more... substance. We have too many sweets-related study breaks.
