Heh. I got up at 7:30 this morning, left the dorm around 8:15 and just got back.. and my roomie and her boyfriend are not even out of bed yet. Wee. So, I went downtown with my friend from down the hall (this is so horribly inspecific, but oh well!) to see this exhibit on Elizabeth I at the Newberry Library. It was pretty neat, but it was a lot of reading and after awhile all kinds of older (meaning, at least 50 years older than us) people started coming in, and they jostled us around and never apologized. It was rather amusing. It's not often that the younger folk get annoyed with the older ones before it happens the other way around. Though, I don't imagine my pseudo-punk manner of dress really helped out their impression. Perhaps between me, my friend (who looks rather NYC, no matter what), and her roomie we looked a rather bizarre bunch, there to cause some sort of New-Wave trouble in the library. I wanted to go upstairs and look around, but that idea got scrapped when we discovered there was security and crap we had to go through.
Instead of just going straight back, we walked over to Michigan Ave... then decided that we'd seen Michigan far too many times, and could probably name the stores as we walked by them with our eyes closed, so we walked over to Wabash, which was interesting for a few blocks, until it ran parallel to the busiest part of Michigan, where it just sort of became the backs of all the stores and such. Then we went to McDonalds, and sat around and talked for a bit... and then we caught the red line home. Woo. All before 1. See, previous plans!
Hmm.. I should probably do laundry today. But I'm afraid of getting partway done and then having to leave for the show tonight. I've got no idea when anyone's going to dinner or anything... I suppose I can just figure it out as I go. I don't think it would be possible for laundry to take me 4 hours... Though I am out of practice.
I found myself just sort of randomly thinking about things today... like the life-sized model of the Beatles from the Abbey Road cover (or whatever album that was... I've never been good with the Beatles)... how weird has it got to be to know that somewhere in a foreign country there is basically a shrine to you in a McDonalds. Heh... I want a shrine to me in a McDonalds someday. To be that recognisable, even to people like me. What the heck? And then I was just randomly watching people, and there was this guy at the register that would put his hand in the back of his pants whenever he seemed nervous or uncomfortable. Twas verily weird.
