So, when I am bored and aimless I like to work with my hands. By and large there usually isn't much for me to do with my hands, since I haven't had a computer I could take apart in ages (or anything, really, that I could take apart), and so I just end up restless. I decided in October I'd try knitting, so I made... one wrist warmer, which I finished about a week ago, after a grand total of... a lot of hours. Because I am not fantastic at knitting. The other one has come along a lot faster, but in the meantime (ie last night) my hands got distracted by crochet. Crochet is... crochet is like algebra to knitting's calculus. You can do all sorts of interesting and complicated stuff with knitting, but it isn't necessarily intuitive or easy. Crochet, on the other hand is, well... look! It's been less than 24 hours since I started to crochet at all, and I already have a hat (which I am very proud of). How's that for instant gratification? Crochet is my new hero. Mostly because my old winter hat was stained by something mysterious, and kind of smelly, so now my ears will be warm without embarrassment, and if someone ever says "Hey, I like your hat" I can be all "I made it!" and feel all crafty. (A program note, though, if you will... the yarn was very forgiving. I bet the actual stitching looks terrible. But yaaay for forgiving (and very soft!) yarn.)
