Well, it's not grad school, but...

I am now officially going back to school in the fall. Not, you know, proper school, and it's not for more than a couple hours a week, BUT I'll have an instrument that I have to carry to work and back on Wednesdays, and that will be geektastic (this being one of my minor motivations. Another being there were only three seats open in the class when there were 10 when I first saw it a few days ago. It kind of forced my patient hand.)

And now, unfortunately I'm kind of justified in ogling pretty little (actually affordable) acoustic-electric mandolins. (My goodness there are mandolins on there that cost more than small cars.)

Isn't it? I can't wait to adopt my foster-mandolin so I can decide if I want to invest in one of my own. Hopefully my future neighbors won't end up hating me, because I definitely see myself bringing it outside and playing it at random times. (-;

Cool! sorry took so long to get back to you. I am thinking the mandolin (damn lack of rentable accordians) but I may just go back to relearn the sax. I suppose I should make my decision soon...

I'm equally guilty for not returning you call! (As far as excuses go... my phone battery is being wonky. And I suck at calling people back. Sorry!)

Did you get into the mandolin class? I just peeked at it and it's full-up. Sax is also fun, though. I'm crap at proper woodwinds, though... reeds and I just don't understand each other. I think it wasn't meant to be. (Soon we shall see if strings and I get along, other than the bass guitar, which didn't work out mostly because I picked it up right before college.)
