So, less than 12 hours before I'm on a train and leaving this place. Unfortunately, last night this place made its last evil grab at my happiness, and now I'm wondering if it's possible for me to college sick when I get home. Neep! Last night was so much fun... it's very weird. There was no drinking, at all, and the bit of "smoking" that happened actually gave me a good reason to "come to the elevator." Silly house and its elevator activities! So, I go over to the elevator, and there's four people from my house playing the blues, and going up and down to all the floors playing whatever you call that person that operates the elevator for you. It was so much fun, and watching the people either be embarassed or thoroughly enjoy it was great. They did it for about an hour, but I was only around for the second half. They got cake, too! Of course, that was before I joined in. They called themselves Brown Man and a Wasp, and the Brown Man (of course) sang songs about being Asian, and something about the Queen of England and Quaker Oats (It's funny that no matter who says Quaker Oats, or in what context, the one part of Mountain Trip to Japan comes to mind). Like [livejournal.com profile] hisspit said, "We're so crazy, I love this house. ... *This* is the University of Chicago I expected to attend." This is the UofC I expected... why has it been hiding from me until the one day that it wouldn't do anything but make me not want to leave, eh?? My silly absurdist life.

So, I have to pack today. Darnit. I've decided that I'm just going to do my laundry at home, because it's free there. And laundry takes time. I still need to figure out what I'm packing up. Hopefully it won't take that long, because I really want to get a good start on my paper, too. I don't want to have to come up with everything while I'm on the train. That would be bad. Especially considering by 3 or 4, I'm going to be pretty tired. Maybe I'll take a nap today, before I leave. If I have time. Hmm... if my roomie wasn't still asleep, I'd start packing up right now. As it is though, I don't want to wake her up. I feel really bad when I do, because she never wakes me up at night. Of course, it is rather hard to wake me up at night sometimes. Last night, I fell asleep while Planet of the Apes was playing pretty much full blast, and it was only about 2:30.

I've had some weird dreams lately, but the only one I can actually remember is the one I had yesterday when I fell asleep after I got back from French. All I remember from last night's it that it looked an aweful lot like it.. and, oh, now I remember a lot of it. It's so weird when that happens. OK, so last night's while my mind's following this bizarre tangent. I was at this flea market with my house, and my old RA was leading us around, but I got lost someplace and ended up following someone else, so I was pretty much wandering around by myself and I was trying to avoid this one guy that was selling these strange little spoons and rings and stuff, and I remember walking past a few booths selling little bracelets and things that I wanted to buy, and I knew I'd seen them before but couldn't buy them because my friends were with me and making fun of them, but I really wanted them now that I was alone. I walked around the corner there, and found my roomie getting food to eat. I decided I was hungry too, but nothing looked interesting so I just got pizza and some strange... bean-looking things (typical BJ-type moment). I had a few bits of the pizza (which wasn't bad). Then, next thing I remember, we were in this frat house and there were all these gay professors and students hanging out, and whoever was with me (I think it was my IC friend) kept asking me if my calculus prof was there. This one really tall guy who was wearing insanely orange swim trunks told us we weren't allowed to swim nine miles with them, because it was something only the frat was allowed to do, but we could swim in the little boxed-in area in the middle. We went out there and swam around, and the water was nice and warm, and terribly terribly clear. You could see everything on the bottom when you put your head in the water. Sometimes, the frat guys would swim up and stare at us, and then swim off again.

And yesterday afternoon's: I was working as some sort of servant girl in the field house, and there was this weird bar thing that carried wheelchairs around everywhere. I was about to get fired, but instead they apprenticed me to some weird lady, who taught me to levitate chair and desks and stuff. Every time I had a lesson though, this irate man would come in, and I'd have to arrange all the desks and chairs in the room quickly before he came in. The first time I set things up right, but still got in trouble for something, and the second time, I set everything up too close to the door, so I picked everything up at once and moved it over, and he came in and yelled at me while I was still holding everything in the air, so I yelled back at him to just give me a chance, and I moved everything over to where it was supposed to be. Somehow, after that I ended up in the basement, which opened under this bridge into this strange cobblestone kind of walkway, and this one guy from our house (who's ROTC) was leading everyone around in these strange running drills, and it was raining and really cold. Sometime after that I ended up back inside, but I was in this big dark gym that had half of a basketball court, and there was this film crew in there interviewing my parents for a documentary about basketball at my high school. The only part I really remember was my dad saying something like "Yeah, the basketball boosters have all kinds of money, and they give him half as a scholarship" (He being my competition last year, of course) and I said something like "Yeah, more like six thousand dollars!" And my dad pointed at me triumphantly, and I did the same back. Then the crew noticed I was there and turned the camera to me. And then I was in this dark room writing down on a piece of paper that later on they replaced my parents with French actors named Angie M'Enjola and Vavio McAimie or something verily strange like that.

Hmph. Well, I think I'll be going now. Roomie's awake because it looks like her boyfriend randomly called. Ohh, I should really check and see what time my train arrives in Ohio. I forgot about the whole time-zone thing. Drat.
