I think I am probably going to spend more time in Crerar and the Reg this summer than I ever did while I was still in school. Figures, eh? Still no internet in my apartment, nor the apartments of anyone else I know. So, here I am, bored and in the library trying to come up with decent cover letters. Especially for this one technology job that requires an entertaining cover letter... hopefully I'll be able to take care of that, because it'd be fun to work for a random gadget selling company.

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was what I found in the shared backyard of my apartment complex the day I moved in...

chicken?

And, ironically, this is the first chicken I've met in person that hasn't been behind bars. We're debating whether it's for eating, or egg-laying, or just a pet. It's pretty big, so I'm guessing, unless it's for a very special occasion, it's not for eating, since they would've eaten it by now. If it was a for-eating chicken, I'd be sad, because I'll probably get attached to it, despite its toe-eating.

In other news, my apartment finally has hot water. It hasn't had hot water since I moved in Friday night, so I will finally be able to take a hot shower tonight. I can't wait. Apparently the water heater was so old it was unrepairable... that's nice to know. But, hey, it's Chicago. Most of the apartments are old.

And now... back to my job search. Here's hoping something turns up soon.

Every time... every time you've said that I've had this brief fear that you've shouted MAGICAL BONDAGE CHICKEN at me.

Yeeeeeah, that's probably not something you keep in your backyard for your neighbors to see. Or maybe that's why you release the Magical Bonding Chicken first.

Soon it will own us all... some of my neighbors were trying to feed it ramen. I've seen only one person able to completely ignore it...

Ok, I admit that I stumbled upon your journal because I was searching for people interested in "writing." I've been missing having other writer-friends in my life, so I thought I'd make some connections with some scribbling folks. Hello, I'm Lou. I was just wondering if it's ok for me to add you. I promise to try to be interesting.

Hi Lou! I don't mind you friending me at all. Fair warning, though, there's a lot of boring personal stuff behind friends-lock sometimes. If that doesn't bother you, friend away. It'll do me good to have another writer-friend. (-:

Thanks! Yeah, I have those kinds of posts at my Myspace now and totally understand. No worries. ;)

i need someone to boggle at doctor who with me!
have you seen the new episodes??

and that's quite the chicken!

From: [identity profile] evilhippo.livejournal.com

I haven't! I considered using the library's connection to steal the last two episodes today, but I'm getting proper internets on Thursday (hopefully) so I think I'll wait so I don't risk losing my library rights. (-;

I really want to figure out who owns it. They take it inside at night. I wonder if the apartment managers know...

From: [identity profile] evilhippo.livejournal.com

I gave in and watched them. Omgwtf?! And now I'm going to be out of town all weekend and won't get to see this week's until Sunday. Which means everyone on the communities will find a way to spoil me again... even though now that I know what's going on, reading all the speculation is rather entertaining. (And I kind of knew what was coming, on account of the anagrams.)

GOOD LUCK! Also, that is the angriest looking chicken I have ever seen. Lock your doors and windows.

Done and done. In fact, since we're on the first floor, our windows even have bars over them. Classy, eh? (-;

LOOK! It's a Really Pretentious Icon!!!

Heck, yeah, that's classy. Lol. I'm glad because my neighbors downstairs have a puppy now so I'm hoping the barking dog will be further deterrent from jacking my shit. How's the apartment in general, though? Livable?

*HUGS*

Re: LOOK! It's a Really Pretentious Icon!!!

Man, I don't have a pretentious icon to match that. Darn you. (-;

The apartment in general is actually quite livable. There's a decent amount of space, a nice little sunroom. It's nothing fancy, but it works. Though I live in fear that I'm going to fall through the loose floorboard in the living room and lose a leg or something. (-:

LOOK AGAIN! Flipping it makes it even MORE pretentious!!!

Yeah. This one kind of scares me... I love yours, though! I loved that scene. Poor despairing Baltar.

Oh sweet! I'm really glad you aren't going to be totally miserable there, although... try and keep your limbs attached pls?
