So, at the advent of Pirate!Hughes in omg_alchemist, I was in need of a sketch for an icon, because visual aid makes everything better. I made the mistake of asking my friend a few floors below (who'd kidnapped solitaryjane's wacom pad and was looking for practice).

I believe the conversation went something like this:

(18:28:39) Me: hey... whenever you reappear could you... um... draw Hughes as a pirate for me? Just a quick sketch, and it doesn't have to be full-size. Just big enough for me to make an LJ icon out of
(18:28:40) Skirtpants : I am online, but may be away from my computer right now.
(18:28:50) Me: sketchyheart has forsaken me, and I have found that I cannot do this on my own
(18:32:22) Me: no eyepatch, though. and no glasses. other than that, whatever you want
(18:38:23) Skirtpants: sure
(18:38:33) Me: merciii
(18:38:42) Skirtpants: i need a break from getting this stupid shinai to fit anyway

(Yes, Skirtpants is the President of the Kendo Club. By some anime rules, that makes him one of the coolest people on campus, obviously. Though likely to get killed by vampires or something.)

And this is what I got. Weeks later. (The lineart was done the same night. But dude... colouring.)

Overkill? Yes. Wonderful at the same time? Also yes. And therefore... I've made this totally random post in its honour. Yay!

I imagined so but I was also unsure. But in addition to, he also needs to be on facebook. (And I don't think pirates have pages... mostly just knights. Do pirates have pages?)

I don't know. I was thinking along the line of "ooh earrings must suck on it!" so I figure a page would be appropriate. He could also use a parrot but that wouldn't be sexy, that'd just be annoying.

That's why I vetoed the parrot idea. Hughes can be annoying enough on his own, if he wants to be. (-: No comment on the earrings... no comment.

It's actually based on the songfile cover. ^_^ (And mmm, I love having artist-y friends that are easily bunnied by my weird requests.) But now you've got me imagining what a Pirate!Hughes songfile would be like... and... oh dear.

That could be why, then. ^_^; It does a really good job of it, though. The colors look like they're exact matches and everything. o_o (I need more of those. XD I still live in the hope that eventually I'll be able to do it myself, but so far no luck. ^^; )

I'm imagining a whole series of Pirate songfiles. It would be brilliant. Quite possibly the best marketing scheme ever. After all, it's so random, who could resist buying it?
