So, browsing through interesting lists on wikipedia has made me realize that one of the easiest ways to make me fall in love with a song is to put it in an odd time signature. Every song I recognized on there (and there were a lot) was one I was rather fond of.
This, and unusual instruments. And good lyrics, when they're there to be understood. But, failing other things, I think time signature will get more interest out of me than anything else. Am I weird in that?Should I share examples? I have lots!
Oh, and for some reason I didn't really like Panic! At the Disco much until I read up on them. I... guess I'm weird like that. This is also why I know what labels random bands are under. Guess I'm just a research whore or something.
Edit of Randomness at Three in the Morning: You know, sometimes I'm pretty certain all I need is good music and good things to read, and I'll be happy. Hooray for people on iTunes lending me many, many things I hadn't heard before. And Schlegel... Where have you been my entire academic life? In honour of you, my new journal subtitle is "anatomical lectures on a piece of roast beef". Between you and Hobbes up there, I have a pretty good sandwich.
