Apparently I file funny workorders. Now I feel like I have to live up to my reputation, but it'll be obvious if I try too hard. In the end, I cut the line about how Tony's keyboard had consumed more vodka than I had, and played the underappreciated alliteration card. Mostly because joking about Tony's drinking habit can be seen as mean, whereas alliteration is wholesome family fun.

So, I guess I've just sort of not been around much this weekend. Aside from all the computer work (which will result in a rather nice paycheck in two weeks, methinks). It's been thoroughly boring around these parts, despite my hopes of finding something interesting to do. I was able to re-channel my ninja powers away from dreaming to snow enough to bring the temperature up above fifty here today (the snow yesterday was my fault; I had a dream about it. I apologize to everyone who was freezing yesterday because of my errant subconscious).

I've finally got work for Shinsen now! It's on a slow project, so I imagine a lot of my time will still be spent idling and being bored, but that's okay. At least I'm officially somewhere instead of floating around in freelance QC-dom. Though I'd like to smack whoever was QCing the the third episode of Ueki. They missed a lot of crap, including the fact that the editor switched from "null zai" to "blank talent" for no apparent reason. (I mean, come on. Null Zai sound so much classier). Doesn't it suck when, once you're used to looking for problems like that, you notice them everywhere? Actually, I've always noticed those things, but it's really the random timing problems that bother me now, because I was never looking for them before.

Anyway, in a roundabout way this brings me to the second half of my rambling on the spring season of anime. Sadly, unless I come back and edit this, there are no pictures this time. Though, the next person to post an inane annoying question in one of the groups I'm in is getting this screencap posted in the comments. Hehehe. So, on to the rambling on a slightly more optimistic-looking few weeks.

Speed Grapher:

In all honesty, I'm still up in the air as to whether or not this anime is great or not. It is definitely the most interesting of everything so far this season (replacing Gankutsuou in that department). So it gets marked down at least as "Good." I'm over the whole episode two cliffhanger thing, since that's a valid device (albeit an evil one) and it worked much better with the subs. (By the by, Shinsen's ending karaoke is awesome. Really it is. Totally makes up for the song). I should say something useful, though. After watching episode 3 (raw, natch), I'm not quite sure how I feel about the devices they're using to move this along. They're really pushing the elitist depraved society thing, and the whole (for lack of a non-spoilery way to put it) Euphoria Factor effect is a bit odd. This is made up for rather quickly by the presence of an actual story, interesting characters, actual mystery, and Saiga. Saiga is freaking awesome. There's a lot of potential for angst there, though, and I fear that. I don't want angsty Saiga. He already wins for not drinking on the job, so methinks he might avoid the angsting as well. I'm definitely going to be watching where this one is going, though. And I totally recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind things that get a wee bit graphic when it means that they get actual mature plot.

Tsubasa Chronicle:

The first episode of this looked really great. The second wasn't quite as cool. I blame plot (and lack of Touya and Yukito). The art is quite pretty, though. And the main character doesn't annoy me as much as he could (plus so far at least one of the supporting characters is fairly cool). Sakura, who had the potential to be quite annoying, hasn't said anything since about 2/3 of the way through the first episode. However, the whole chasing memory shards through alternate dimensions has the potential to become sort of annoying and, well... RPGish. This would probably make a much better game. But, I will keep watching it because it's there, and it's pretty.

Sousei No Aquarion:

I really don't know why I'm still watching this. And, sadly, I will probably keep watching it. At the least I can say that it will probably never be burned to disc (like Law of Ueki). The animation is good, and they seem to be doing a good job with blending the CG with the rest of the animation. But... the plot is no good, and for once I've actually noticed that the voice acting sounds positively forced. Oh, and then there's the girl who squeals orgasmically when the robots combine and says "Oh! This feels good!" Hello desk, please excuse the violence my head is making towards you. Freaking mech anime.

Loveless:

I can say a few words about this one. Shonen-ai. Cat-people. Strange battle sequences. Strong yaoi undertones. Unusual style. Whispy. Not sure what I think about it, though. The guys are quite pretty, but there's so much freaking angst, and when it comes down to it, pretty only gets me so far even in shonen-ai. (Zomg, teh hippo is not a BL fangirl! Gasp!) Probably going to keep watching it though, give it a few more episodes and see where it leads me, since at least it's got the beginnings of a plot (despite the bondage-type battle things). And it doesn't flat-out suck like some others - at least it's different.

Eureka 7:

My review on this one is going to be quite short. Why? I have only seen one episode. Raw. No one appears to be subbing it right now (mostly because it comes pre-licensed thanks to Bandai having a hand in it). This makes me sad, since it is Bones. Ignoring their endings, Bones is quite good. The main character reminds me vaguely of Hige, which is sort of cute. This also involves giant robots, but for some reason giant robots are all okay when the main character's hero pilot is a rather charismatic character voiced by Kenji Fujiwara (HUGHES!) Riza and Havoc are also hiding around in this show. It's amazing the draw certain voice actors can have. (I knew Hughes the second he spoke. Hehehe. I'm not attached much, noo). Oh, and the theme's by Flow (you know, "Go!" Naruto opening, only better). You can totally tell I didn't understand much of what was going on in this, can't you? But it makes me sad that no one's subbing it... I'd probably be watching it, and it could supplant Aquarion for the whole obligatory Mech anime (at least it's not GUNDAM).

P.S. Everything on the new Weezer album sounds the same. Kind of like the Green Album. Which, strangely, is still completely attached to the dirtbike racing game on the computer at home.
P.P.S. No, this album is not out yet. Nor am I sure how this person on iTunes got a hold of it.

*rolls around, adding the supplemental, cracked out review material, in which Shlee attempts to be non-spoilerful*

Speed Grapher: Oi. OI OI. Evil Saiga cameos! I'm all "EEEEE STOP TURN AROUND HE'S RIGHT ... oh eff." Then YAY BENTO then BOO BENTO then HOSHIT NAKED YAY then ZOMG BRACES WTF then SAIGA WEE! Buh. I want more camera perversion ~__~

Tsubasa Chronicle: I haven't sat down to watch 2 & 3 yet :D

Loveless:
Ritsuka: I'm like Sasuke, only not. Eff.
Soubi: I'm hot ;D
Yayoi: I'm the awesome side character that gets shafted for comedy, but I'm awesome anyway, bizzitches.
Yuiko: ... I'm the only character that's nearly as tall as Soubi! I HAVE BOOBS! :D!
Shlee: I actually to have to keep watching this because ep3 is where i left off in the manga so I don't know what happens next. And I like shoenen-ai. And I'm kind of mad that they haven't explained the whole battle system thing more in the anime yet, because I like it (its all about the vocabulary. You must be a walking thesaurus to succeed!). Zooom.

Eureka 7: ....Hughes? Havoc? T_______T

Parappa the Rapper: HOSHIT THIS IS CRACK SO MUCH CRACK I DON'T UNDERSTAAAAAND. O____O

Someday, when I am useful I will be able to talk someone in to subbing Eureka 7 for us. Or... umm... see to it that subs are put on TV (so we can still hear Hughes and Havoc).

::stares at Parappa the Rapper:: What is it with you and finding totally crack anime??

(And dude, I am editing, wtf? I'm a QC, darnit! ... despite the fact that I'd probably make a better editor anyway. Ah well, we shall see. /me is doing PoT now, apparently).

Wtf? Are you online? Why do my e-mails not pop up anymore?

And yes... Prince of Tennis. ::blinks at it a bit more:: And I now, in my infinite perfectionism, feel obligated to feel out how they've been doing the scripts for the previous episodes, so I can temper my writing style accordingly. Err..

I'm... uh.. sort of online? I think I closed out of my pop-up gmail uhhhh... zoom?

I almost want to start watching that show some more, now that its finally over. According to the naruto commercial of doom. But I don't think I'd be burning any more of it :D;

*rolls*

Hehe, I mean why doesn't gaim tell me when I have mail anymore? It's being stupid again ::kicks it:: I think this is its way of getting me to update it. Even though I don't want to because it's only like, a week between updates sometimes and it's such a pain in the butt.

(Did you see the parody sub of 175? It's just... hmmmm).

Naruto commercial of doom?

Huh. I watch Loveless for the pretty, but the plot seemed a bit 'huh?' at first, what with Soubi showing up and going "Hi! I love you!" Though I find it infinately more interesting is that Soubi's doing all this because Seimei told him to. O_o Either that's incredible devotion or total doormatry.

Also, Yayoi is a poor dork who's awesome. He shouldn't be wasting his time pining over the girl... he should be doing something more constructive, like finding a hot blonde boyfriend who's overly loyal or a blue, vengeance-craved vampire who, more likely than not, will molest him to death. Yeah, guess who his VA played in Gankutsuou?

And Ritsuka needs to get off the angstmobile and be happy that he's got a sexy college boy for a love slave. If I was in his position, I certainly wouldn't be angsting, even if I had a tragic home life and dead brother.

I like the plot. It's more interesting than, say, Beet the Vandel Buster. And the opening and ending are oh-so-pretty.

Tsubasa's... eh. I still like the music and the pretty, but the plot's kind of... eh. I'm going to keep watching in hopes that Touya and Yukito show up again.
