I'm so glad to be doing useful things again. Also, I did a ton of walking today (almost entirely in the rain, goshdarn weather), so I feel less like a lump. Aside from the bits where I had to sit in the north lobby package room waiting for OSX to install on the package claim computer, there was lots of random interesting stuff today. I got to fix one of the engineers' computers, so I got to see the boiler room. (There's a cat that lives in the basement of the Shoreland that the engineers keep as a mouser. It's so cute. But he wouldn't let me pet him, so I was sort of sad. Also, I'd forgotten how much softcore porn can be crammed onto the walls of a male-only, mechanical-type office. It amused me greatly... and reminded me of every garage I've been in with my dad.
Also, I was on the phone or talking to someone in person at all times today. That's kind of unusual. But on the whole not that bad. It's so nice to have cell phone reception.
The rescom girl-count seems to rest at three now. It used to be four, but in general there are a lot fewer of us than there used to be. Only one RCA and two DCAs in the Shoreland, where there used to be two RCAs and... at least three, possibly four DCAs. But the newer guys are more social, so that's cool. I actually talked to people today, and there was discussion at the table that was not exclusively about computers (though at lunch, that was about all that got actual conversation going. We got a bunch of Intel iMacs, and everyone wants to see them now. Or at least, everyone in rescom. Apparently we've got a setup that lets you boot into Windows or OSwhateverthey'reonnow. That should be fun.)
Aaand now I should finish going through all the stuff in my room and making sure it's all functional. Weee. Let's hope they bring me a new stove or something.
