Today I learned that Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, when said in a proper British accent, can actually rhyme. I'm pretty sure this isn't a lack of attention on my part. I don't think anyone I know would even think of pronouncing door and claw to rhyme. Unless they were pretending to be British. And the right kind of British, too. So, um... thank you, linguaphiles, for making my day slightly more enriched. I think my confusion at most of the phoenetic stuff there is pretty much why I'm not a linguistics major... and why I can't pull off a decent accent unless someone is walking me through it. Unless it's valley girl. That's just... well, I need to stop that. Definitely. Unless someone needs a good valley girl voice actress. I'm totally up for that. As long as I don't have to do it forever. I've got this fear that I'd just slowly actually become a valley girl, far removed from my appropriate decade, and I'd slowly wither away and... it'd be scary, trust me.
P.S. My mom is dancing in the living room... spastically... and it looks so creepily like Voldo I'm sort of glad I'm leaving for a Christmas party soon, even if it is my dad's work Christmas party and is bound to be... strange.
