First thing I read in my e-mail today was this (hopefully that worked). Stupid government and trying to cut money away from people that really, really need it. If this actually works out for them, there is pretty much no way on Earth that I'll be able to spend more than 2 years in Chicago. And if I have to come back here and go to YSU or something (nothing against it or anything), I think I'm just going to pack up what I have and go live in a box in NYC or something. Or move to Canada. It's funny that usually Canada's seen as sort of conservative, but right now they're hundreds of times more liberal than we are here right now. I really hope that we can get rid of Bush in 2004. The only problem is, there are so many choices for the Democrats and others that chances are even if there is a majority of people that want to get rid of Old Dubyah, they probably won't agree on who should replace him. I feel really sorry for Tony Blair.. he got dragged into this whole Bush mess, too. I liked him, because at least he could speak and voice coherant opinions. And now we're trying to blame the false intelligence in the State of the Union on them. Oof. I hate politics.

I like not having to go to work until six, but I hate closing. I don't like cleaning everything up, especially since everyone else hates closing and they all act miserable and complain. At least I haven't really had to clean out one of the poppers yet. One of the girls got this huge burn on the side of her arm from the kettle when she was cleaning it last week. Considering how many people get burned or hurt in some way every day, you'd think they could pay us just a little bit more, you know? People at Wendy's and McDonalds start at higher wages than some people that have been at the theatre for a year. This is why it's my mission to see every free movie I can. Maybe I'll go over to the one near my dentist and see something Monday. Maybe Pirates of the Carribean. We didn't get anything new yesterday, but there was a special "sneak preview" of Freaky Friday... I wonder if anyone came. Silly me, I'd thought it came out Friday, but apparently it's not out until August. Movie releases are so confusing.

Ah, I love the boards for Chicago. There's a thread right now that has now decidated itself to old Nick cartoons and shows. There's one on the proper way to eat mashed potatoes. And there's one on the similarities between the UofC and Hogwarts.

"Both are gothic. Chicago's mascot is a phoenix, Dumbledore owns a Phoenix. Both are very reputable, and on occasion buck the status quo. Both have a forbidden forest (well, o.k., Chicago's isn't really a forest, but parts of the city are forbidden, and Chicago is big and easy to get lost in, like a forest), both have excellent teachers yet the occasional rather harsh cynic, and I'm sure there are more."

I love these people.

There's also a thread about personality types... I'm an Introverted Intuitive Feeling Percieving. Not bad... apparently I sort of live in my own fantasy world sometimes and do all sorts of things for people and believe that everyone is essentially good. Hmm... I think that's pretty much close enough to the truth, non?

Well, I think it's taken me long enough to write this... and there really isn't much of a point here at all, is there? Not that there was meant to be one. I think I'm just waiting for a song to come up that I like so I can write it in the current music thing and look all cool.

Oh! And for anyone local reading this, check out the scholarships for our class this year. Especially mine. It's hilarious! It actually says that the UofC is giving me $100,400! That is, of course, all grants that I got because I'm poor, but amongst everything else it looks merit-based. It's a shame that if the first thing I mentioned in this entry goes through, that'll be cut by quite a bit. Everybody's scholarships look good this year. '03 was a good class. It's a shame most of us aren't leaving the state. Not counting NW Pennsylvania as out of state (since it's so freaking close anyway), there appear to be two of us. Don't I feel special?
Ah, drat Regal Cinemas. As if we didn't already have nothing to do behind the counter, they have invented a new and exciting way to bore everyone to death. We have now instituted a special inventory system in which every person at each register has a special amount of everything that they get for every set. Basically, it's ten of everything. We're not allowed to restock our drawers or anything without calling the manager first. It's insane! I ran out of large bags twice, forgot to give someone their quarter back (because I was entranced by the Where's George stamp on it). And then there is the stupidest thing of all about this new system: we're not allowed to make the nachos and pretzels in advance. We're not even allowed to cook the pretzels. Under normal conditions, the pretzels take about 12-14 minutes to make, at 400 degrees. We are supposed to cook them for about 6 minutes and then leave them in the pretzel machine until we need them, at which point we're supposed to finish cooking them. I think about 10 minutes would be a better number, because after the machine had cooled down all the way with the pretzels in it, it took me at least another 8 minutes to cook them for some poor people. At least they weren't late for their movie. This only adds to my distaste for the pretzel machine. It managed to burn my entire hand two days ago, but can it heat up and cook the freaking pretzels when I want them?? NO! No it can't! I think maybe I'll have to come up with a name for it too now. I already call the butter machine MacBeth.

I go so bored today in between sets (after all the movies start) that I made a tiny butterfly out of one of the twisty-ties that go on the pretzel bags. It's my friend now. I have a strange habit of having quasi-invisible friends. It dates back to when I was little and I named all the trees in my backyard. Poodoo (the cherry tree), Puckuck (the apple tree), and EggDip (the strange pear-shaped fruit bearing tree). EggDip was the one I blamed everything on, and I once claimed to have left him in South Carolina. Until something went wrong and I had to blame it on him again. I was a strange child.... but my parents encouraged it! Hehe, I remember doing "screen tests" in the basement when my dad was using the picture enlarger... it had huge lights that came on and illuminated the entire half of the basement, where I'd dance and such, "auditioning" for movie roles.

Hey, it's not even midnight yet. Sweet, maybe I can get to bed and actually get up in the morning tomorrow. I hate sleeping in until ten, and I have to start exercising soon. I got up this morning at 8:40, but I accidentally feel asleep and didn't get up again until 10:30 or something. Being up at 2 in the morning leaves you with a lot less to do than being up at 9, you know? I also hate only having seven hours before I have to go to work. I would've been home at 11 tonight, but the managers have started keeping everyone until 11:30. We had absolutely nothing to do for the last half hour at least.

Ah, curse it all, I'm off to find something to eat. Then I think I'll wash the popcorn smell off of me, and go to bed. Good night, internet.
