evilhippo: hippo (two-ton elephant lifted off my chest)

I did stuff today! Yaay! I managed to get up this morning... of course the dentist had to call to keep me from rolling over and going to sleep. Then more people called, and I had to take messages, and then friends called and we went to see Fahrenheit 9/11. Which is, yes, very political. And you can pretty much get as mad at Bush as you would ever want to by watching it. There were a few parts that I was like... come on, give me a break... that just sounds bad. But for the most part.. well, for the whole part there's no denying his point. And it was pretty clear that he wasn't talking much or on screen because the point pretty much makes itself. Blasted Bush. I love all the old people that come in to see it with their Kerry Buttons on though... I'm going to have to get some of those at the fair this year. And cover my bookbag in them. Not that the point's going to have to be made much at the UofC, at least... well.. yeah.. I would have to aruge with people. But at least I've been in contact with the news lately. I need to make a point to keep up next year. I didn't realize how completely cut off I was until I got back here. Eep.

Neee! I started finishing my costume today. I have everything I need to finish it now, I think... except the gloves. And I'll buy those sometime tomorrow at Target, because I discovered I could get black weightlifting gloves and... use them for track. Perfect excuse! I'll just need to sharpie-out the brand on the back and voila... ninja gloves. I could even get the knit ones and pretend they're fishnet. I also found fishnet shirts at Walmart. I was so tempted.. but I did not. I will leave fishnet to the other ninjas. I have now dyed my shoes, and painted my arm guards, and... oh! I should buy another one of those odd giant plastic cone things and make leg guards. Even though they're not technically part of the costume.. it would make my lower-leg covering problem a bit easier. Ah well, at least I got the right sort of fabric for the top... I think. Hope... we'll see!

I am glad to see another Kerry supporter. I hate bush with a passion and am as political as political will get. I saw him while I was at school in Pittsburgh in April. I got a ton of free signs, buttons, bumper stickers, etc. It's going to be a close election, lets just hope bushy doesn't pull something out of his ass to sway votes!!

I'm a bit concerned about this gay marriage thing the Republicans are bringing up now. I'll be freaking ticked off if it distracts everyone from everything else. It's such a stupid issue... everyone treats it like the GLBT community's trying to force everyone into being like them, and it threatens everyone's poor conservative Christian morals. Let them do what they want, the rest of us don't have to have same-sex marriages. Bus doesn't have to marry Chaney or anything. Blah! It's about the economy, stupids! (-:

You are exactly right. I am glad that someone else sees eye to eye with me on this subject. The economy isn't that much better than it was 6 months ago, and many people are still without jobs in this country. And I hope dick cheney goes to hell someday because I am tired of filling his wallet with money everytime I fill up my gas tank. I need to run for president.

Someday, when the election is a bit less precarious, I am just going to write myself in for president. Even if we don't have write-ins. I'll just scribble it in the margins. Some day, I will win a state out of nowhere, and it will be my springboard to actually becoming president. (-:
