So... I was awoken this morning a quarter to 8 not by my alarm clock, but by one of the many ear-splitting emergency noises the Shoreland comes equipped with. Egads. For some reason, the smoke alarm in my room went off (the desk people said it was out of batteries... huh). I'm surprised no one else in the hall got up, because it was loud and very, very annoying. Very. I originally thought that something had gone terribly wrong with my alarm clock, and I was trying desperately to turn it off. Show you how awake I am in the morning, huh? My roomie got up and I was still fighting with the darn thing. So once we figured out that the horrible noise was isolated to our room, we had to go down and tell the people at the front desk. Adventurous morning... I'm glad I don't get up to a smoke alarm all the time. I think it's a sign... I actually have to go to track practice today, so it's probably telling me I'm doomed.
So... last night we got our numbers for the in-house lottery. My number actually isn't bad... I'm the third of the first years, but our in with the second years didn't draw quite so well. The freakin' Chinaman down the hall and his army of dorks drew freakin' first choice last night though, and rubbed it in constantly. Meanwhile I was freaking out because one of my friends might be leaving the floor which would mean I the rest of the people I was rooming with might want to get a quad, which I can't do because I can't afford it. But we can work it out eventually I'm sure, even if I have to live with random first years or something. It's a shame that the lottery wasn't completely random, because then I'd have seventh pick in the house, rather than 30-somethingth. Silly seniority.
Well, I suppose I'd better find something to do to occupy my time before practice. Maybe at the meeting I'll tell them I'm done. That would be... interesting. But scary! I'd probably only do it if they actually confronted me about missing all that practice last week.
