Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what her mindset was. Though I can't even imagine the kind of stress it was to write that book. I probably would've gone as much against the norm with it as possible, though, because that's sometimes my reaction to lots of expectations. She must've had the opposite reaction... though obviously with a lot of wanton character death thrown in. (Death = poignance or something, maybe? I dunno. Dobby definitely had the best, most noble death. Pretty much all the rest just seemed gratuitous).
This is why I haven't really touched the HP fandom. (And my lack of attachment to it has probably made me a lot less fangirly in my reactions.)
