Don't you hate that feeling when you sense it's just past the halfway point and realize that there's no way this won't end in To Be Continued?
Darnit, I forgot how evil cliffhangers are when you have to wait between them.
Also, as a general (and mostly unrelated question), how long do you have to wait for it to be "inspired by" rather than just "fangirlishly derivative"? I ask mostly on account of the fact that most of the books we're reading for my writing class are stepping on the toes of every last bunny I have. Oh! I'll write a pirate story! And abuse the accent for fun! (Though hopefully not cross the line where whoever's reading it wants to set me on fire.) And Cloud Atlas goes "Oh no you don't. I may not have pirates. But hanging out on ships? Got that covered. Oh, and you can forget the accents, too, because I've already got you beat there. Four times. And now whatever you write is going to look like you stole from me!" Freaking David Mitchell. Good book, though.
I also ask on account of the fact that I have what may be Doctor Who bunnies. (Freaking crap, leave me alone, bunnies!) Aaaand, since I don't need to pick up any more fanfiction habits/muses/doomy-distracting-tendencies, I need to filter them into something else.
Screw it. I managed to get Great Gatsby-related bunnies. Not fanfic, really, but plotwise-type "Oh, no one will notice if I borrow Jay Gatsby for a bit". It's hopeless. Really is. I'm like some sort of character-pirate, skimming the waters of literature, TV, and movies for random characters. And then they're all like "write me!" and I'm like "But I'm le tired! And you, you are like ze one that iz covered in les sparkles, it iz so obvious you do not belong to me, wat will ze people sink?" (You can see here why David Mitchell, and really pretty much anyone else, pwns me at accents. I don't even know what accent that is.I may have been aiming for French, but I'm not entirely sure I didn't sideswipe German or Russian or something.)
I'm sorry... I'm in a horrendously weird mood today, because, even though my cold's clearing up, for some reason I'm three times as tired today as I've been all week. I think I'm a wee bit overworked... and yet right now, I'm being useless to Scav, and that's making me all guilty. Darnit. Anyone have good advice against zombies?
