Erm. I realize I haven't made an update anyone could see since Thursday. So hi, I exist. It's been an incredibly weird weekend. Friday night was the Chicago Review party, which involved cautiously observing (from close range) a wide variety of slightly intoxicated literary types and listening to poetry that, for the most part, sounded like random words. It was fun, though. Oh, and the sushi we had beforehand was wonderful. I think Shiroi Hana is my new favourite sushi place. Though I didn't really have one before... (Naniwa was too fancy/expensive for me. Plus that's where I was first tricked into eating a whole lump of wasabi. Thanks guys. Just like I was told to just swallow the tapioca in bubble tea. Le sigh.)
Yesterday involved sitting around in my PJs until about 8, when I had to look for fancy clothes for a cocktail party at ten. Which was really just everyone on my floor hanging out in fancy clothes. I've got pictures somewhere, but they're mostly of the serendipitously artistic arrangement of cherries, limes, and oranges in the sink behind the bar.
Today's been full of cleaning. Our trash can was growing mold, so I had to attack that (it turned the Comet yellow and milky, which scares the crap out of me). Then I scrubbed the bathtub. And I cleaned the oven. My roomie set my spatula on fire (she set one of my handtowels on fire a week or so ago). She's a walking disaster when she's writing papers (and unfortunately for my kitchen supplies, I find it amusing). So my kitchen spent a good amount of time smelling like burnt plastic, which was rather disgusting.
As a reward (mostly, though, because the Saturday show is sold out now), I finally ordered my ticket for Andrew Bird. I still have no one to go with but... I've got time to figure it out. Hopefully. And if not, it should be okay... I imagine I can find someone to tag along with.
