So... it's November 28th, isn't it? Because, as far as I can see, it's 55 degrees and storming outside, and tomorrow's supposed to be 58. Whose weather machine broke? Own up, I won't hold it against you. And if it's suddenly slipped us back into September, I'll actually love you. As long as you force everyone else to admit that it's September.
So, I just realized that no, it is not 3:00 eastern time right now. I hope my sister didn't have her phone set to actually ring... I'm going to be in big trouble. And it's actually my dad's fault that I couldn't get through to the home phone. But anyway... a story!

It's a beautiful day outside. Sun's out, I barely need a jacket. And things today have been such that it's been impossible for me to catch a bus, for whatever reason. Some sort of weird, fate, I guess. So I decided, hey, it's pretty out, I was pardoned for sucking at French, at least for now, I can afford to walk back to the dorm. I got as far as Stony Island... and, as I was waiting for the light to change, this guy gets out of his car and walks over to me. There was some sort of "Wow, it's a real pleasure to see a beauty out here walking like this. I imagine you walk a lot, huh?" I'm still not sure if he was hitting on me, or trying to sell me a car. It was the single most baffling experience ever. I hope points don't count against me for trying to call home after, since I was walking back alone through the park, and had a tiny bit of fear that he might hop back into his SUV and try to follow me back to my dorm or something. He was friendly, though, and he didn't seem threatening. What makes it worse is that I tried to call home and got the voice mail, so I immediately thought it must be three at home and called my sister. I hope she didn't have her ringer on. There's a lovely message on her voice mail that's like "Hey, it's me. Just calling you because this guy was talking to me on the street corner back there, and it's safer to be on the phone, just in case he decides to follow me. Because I'm alone, and walking through the park, and there'd be no witnesses, you know. La la la, maybe you'll pick up the phone. Oh, there's a bus full of people. They can be witnesses. Okay, I'm fine now. I'll call you when I get back to the dorm so you know I survived." I did call her when I got back, at least, and let her know I was fine. It's probaby best that she got the message rather than my dad, though (who was the one guilty of being on the internet). He would've been worried. My sister will just mock me relentlessly for months, maybe years. Though, at least I didn't sound scared. Just sort of confused. Because... um... it's not often I get stopped on street corners and hit on. Or pestered into buying a Porsche. So. confusing! (And my sister just called and didn't make fun of me... whoa.)

Then I got back and the RA had me wake my roomie to ask her for her monitor cable. All three of us were given one of his three first-born children as collateral, though. Then I actually fixed his computer, since the monitor was plugged into the wrong port (the guy who build the computer had switched video cards, so it wasn't where it belonged).

So... um... now that all of that's out of the way, and I've remembered that I actually brought lunch back from campus, I think I'll get to work. I just checked chalk, and it looks like I somehow got an extension on my Darwin paper until Monday. Which is... a huge relief. But I'm wary of believing it, since it's chalk and it managed to possibly be lying to me about when my French work was due. Gah, I'll be so much less stressed out if I've got the weekend to work on that paper. I'll throw a party. Several parties, even.
