Alright, so I missed yesterday. This is due to the lesser-known clause of my resolution called "I'm home for a week and if I have better things to do I don't have to write." Umm, so far those better things have been wandering around stores with my sister and bowling with my pair of couples. This will be followed up tomorrow with talking to people from the high school and taunting the drama club. Tuesday is all about wasting time then going to Sharon. Wednesday, I might just go up to Cleveland randomly. After that, it's all random. I think tomorrow also includes bits of "drive downtown to the main library and get books to read." And... errr, trying once again to translate those evil Xenosaga trailers. I actually went to the library and picked up a book on Japanese... yeah, it helped me figure out how to say Robots Fighting in Space! properly, and how to say "I am a tree!" but that's about as far as I got. Other languages are confusing, especially when the sentence structure is something like "As for me, tree I am." It's like perpetual yoda-speak with strange symbols and Chinese thrown in for fun. Hehehe. Anyway, I am currently labouring under the delusion that I'm going to go to Japan and work on video games, and if that doesn't work out I could always teach English there until it does. I am nuts, but my delusions are fun. Afterall, the happier people have a small grasp on reality anyway...

I really wish this snow would go away. It was supposed to be in the 50s here this week. Why, weather... why must you mock me??

I forgot how quiet it is here on school nights after ten or so. Eep. I'm constantly afraid that my typing's going to keep someone up. Ahh well, I'm certain I could find something to do!

Visit me

If you drive to Cleveland and back that is 3 hours and to Sharon and back is another 2 so that much time is almost enough to get you to Ithaca. Heather's friend is on spring break and she came from Illinois to visit her!!! SO you people back home have no excuse, other than money which I totally understand.

Re: Visit me

Ohhh, but then there's the whole getting lost factor, which would add a few hours. And the unfortunate fact that I'd need someone to go with me, and I don't have a car that would make it that far that I could borrow for that long. Of course, if something changes by Thursday I'll be sure to let you know! (-;

By the way, are you still coming over my way to visit in May? I keep randomly hearing things but never anything from you. Pah!

Re: Visit me

Hmm.. I'm not sure if it is my computer that is screwed up, or LJ. But that comment that I just left attached to my own message is for you... and for some reason my pictures aren't showing up either. Stupid AOL... I miss my ethernet!! Waaa!

I am so spoiled.

Re: Visit me

It is impossible to get lost coming up here unless you get into ithaca and accidentally take the hill up to Cornell instead of IC. It is all highway and such. No little side roads. I have no idea if I can still come up. We were going to come up Memorial Day weekend but now I have a wedding to go to. So now I can't decide a good time. We are also suposed to be flying in with buddy passes my cousin can get for working at the airport but so far I think nothing like that has happened. So for an answer right now I have no idea. Plus I don't know when your finals are and stuff so I can't really decide.

Re: Visit me

What? Weddings interfering with our plans? Can't they wait? (-;

My finals aren't until June... the week of the 7th, I think. So you've got a lot of time that you could come. Heck, just show up randomly at the front desk of my dorm (and listen to the guy yell at you for an ID) and have them call me and I'll come let you in.

Re: Visit me

You have a doorman?? LOL!! We can have random people just walk in our dorms anytime they want except past nine then they just have to knock and someone passing by will open the door for them. I guess in Chicago though it makes a little more sense. I mean I don't think there are many threatening people in Ithaca. Ummm well lets see the thing is I can't come just by myself. I mean I could but my mom wants to go to Chicago with my aunt so she has the idea that we can fly/drive together and then I can spend the weekend with you and they can see Chicago. That of course is why we have a problem because that means we have to come on a weekend because they are both teachers. So I still have to talk to my mom about it. I mean I wouldn't mind coming during the week and sitting through some of your classes just to see how above me they are!! LOL!!

Re: Visit me

I dunno... doorman seems to imply someone that would let you in or open the doors for you. This is basically an old guy who sits behind a desk and yells "ID!! ID!!!" at everyone as they come in off the bus. It also didn't seem to stop that one weird guy that followed me up on the elevator and told me I was hot for a white chick and that my suspenders were hot. Eeep. They do the silliest things when people don't have IDs, too. Like this one kid (and I've heard this story on the elevator like, three times and I don't even know the guy) had forgotten his ID and he was bringing his girlfriend and her mom up to see his room or something, and they were still signing in while he went upstairs, and the door guy said something to the girls mom like "You've got to watch out for those ones, they'll rape your daughter when you're not watching." He also wasn't going to let my sister in because she didn't have an ID, and for some reason he couldn't understand that not only was she my sister and not a student at the university, but because she was only 14 she did not have an actual ID of any type. Luckily he sort of gave up and let me sign her in anyway. And after that I gave her my student ID so she could just wave it at people as she went in and hope they didn't notice that it's the wrong one (we have dorm IDs, too... because we're security crazy or something).

Re: Visit me

Well I believe any system is better than IC's right now. OF course I really don't want tuition raised again so that we can pay people to sit and ask for IDs so I won't complain anymore. Tuition is up to 35,000 for next year. That is up about 3,000 from this year. I wouldn't be so upset if it actually looked like they were improving the school but they aren't. Buying a 6,000 dollar plasma TV that plays CNN in Park all day is not really an improvement as far as I'm concerned.
