Up until now, I think my favourite book to pick up in a bookstore and read aloud to people was this one collection of Jewel's poetry (and, of course, those random trashy romances). I think the Snakes on a Plane novel has now surpassed all of those... one way or another, I very much fear it's going to end up belonging to me so I can read it to people at random.
I think they've captured the whole this-idea-is-a-trainwreck premise more perfectly than anyone ever has.
How is Jewel's poetry? I remember reading the CD jacket when I was eleven and being like, "...this is weeeeeird. She talks about boobies!" Because I was such a cultured kid. But yeah, there's nothing like a trashy-romance readaloud. I agree, tho. Literary and cinematic trainwreck. How many more genres will become this monstrosity's bitch?!!?
From what I remember, it was odd, in a sort of bad way, and not much like her songs at all.
I'm waiting to find out which song won the get-featured-in-the-movie contest. It's very likely that will add music to the genre-trainwreckery. Not much else is left...
Yeah, I remember her poetry as being sorta funkyish. I really really love the Pieces of You album, though. Cept the title song and Adrian, both of which are like, godiekthxbai. My friend from elementary school's mom used to babysit her, ironically.
They actually had that as a contest? ...Woah. And yeah, they're really blazing through the genres. What's next? The Sam L. Jackson Badassmuthafucka My Little Pony?

It's beautiful. Nothing is sacred.
