RE: Last Night's Letter

Dear World,

An earthquake was not what I had in mind. At all. (Other than the fact that it's really amusing. I guess that helps.)

What?

In other news... walking around aimlessly makes me feel better. Also, I am a great big superstitious fluffball. Because a ladybug hopped onto me somewhere during my walk around downtown today, and got on the Grand bus with me. I let it crawl around and watched it, because ladybugs are good luck. And it fell off of me onto a lady's fancy tacky purse and she... she swatted it. So after she got off I caught it off the back of her seat and held onto it until I could take it to the park across from my apartment, because I kind of felt responsible for it being transported into a dangerous environment. And in the end, I deposited it on a fuzzy tree, and I hope it'll be happy, even if it is miles from its original home. (And I took pictures, er, because I'm a nerd.)

Apparently that lady didn't know that, as with crickets, killing ladybugs is bad luck. TRYING to kill one is at least some bad karma too, I'd imagine.

Also, lolearthquake. At least it wasn't the big 'un!!

And why would you, anyway! They're harmless, and rather cute as far as bugs go! (Says the girl whose heart can be captured by a yawning tiny snake.)

Lol, but it was for us! 5.2, I mean, it could be felt in Tennessee! Everyone at work was all "It woke me up! My ceramic chickens were knocking together! We need earthquake insurance! I hate curry!" and I just kind of sat there and went... "This has happened before, you know? It's... kind of really amusing."

By rights I should have felt it too. Kansas people felt it!!! Hell, I had a raging case of insomnia during the night and10 to 1 I was staring at my eyelids when it happened.

Curse you, KC area, for having such amazing bedrock.

Clearly our earthquakes just need to try harder. We should import some California and Japan quakes to tutor ours, so they know what they're doing. I mean... what did this one manage? I think it destroyed a few awnings. Such an underachiever-quake.

Apparently everyone one around me felt the earthquake. Except me. I was kind of disappointed.

I am glad to here that the lady bug made it out of the situation alright. Dying while on a tacky handbag would be most unfortunate :(

That's okay, I slept through it, and somehow wasn't aware of the aftershock, either. Guess I'm just not attuned to the Earth's anger. Or something. (-:

I wouldn't wish that sort of death on anything. Except maybe other tacky handbags.

Dude, I so called you yesterday to see if the Earthquake affected you but you didn't answer so I got worried and now I see you posting LJ well I guess you're okay then phew.

Oh dear. I was on the phone with my mom when you called, so I figured I'd just call back later. And then I kind of forgot... >.> But the quake did... nothing. I mean, maybe if something had exploded, that would've been cool, but... alas. No disaster.

I mean... dude! It was epic! My apartment caved in and the whole place was filled with natural gas, which was horrible, because we recently decided to go steampunk and all our lamps have open flames and then the DINOSAURS showed up. Omg. So now I'm living in a tent in the Yukon, which was where I landed after the explosion.
